The varied lorikeet is a parrot endemic to northern Australia. It is called djurrih in all Bininj Gunwok dialects. A famous place Djurrih Kawokbebme 'Varied Lorikeet sings out' is a spectacular waterfall at the southern border of the Ankung Djang 'Honey Dreaming' country on the upper Liverpool River on the Arnhem Land Plateau.

We call this bird djurrih, and in the wet season it eats from the flowers of Xanthostemon paradoxus, that's the bird we call djurrih.
