Northern cypress has hard but brittle wood used for making hooked spears, woomeras, corroboree sticks. Considered good firewood with a pleasant araoma when cut or burnt. The smoke repels mosquitoes. Food is not cooked on fires fueled by the timber as the resins/oils in the timber are poisonous. Northern cypress is a fire sensitive tree.
