Kind of acacia, the seeds of which are relished by black wallaroos. An-murrukurl in Kundedjnjenghmi and a synonym an-bongka. Do you have a name for Acacia latescens in another Bininj Kunwok dialect such as Kunwinjku? Please let us know, but take care with elicitation as many Acacia species are very similar.

Hard wood used for spearthrower pegs (kun-keb); heads of belpan and dalgurr spears.

The soft gum (an-kurrk) exuded by insect damage to branches and trunk can be eaten like a bush toffee.

Slender tree to 9 m high. Leaves alternate, curved, linear to narrowly oblanceolate, blades 80-260 mm long x 4-18 mm wide. Flowers white to cream in globular heads about 5 mm diameter. Fruit straight, smooth semi-woody pods, 50-200 mm long x 10-20 mm wide. Found in lowland and sandstone country.
