Erect shrub or small tree to 4 m high. Leaves dimidiate, upper margin curved, broadest below middle. Flowers bright yellow in dense cylindrical spikes to 80 mm long and 7 mm wide. Fruit pods narrow, straight, to 150 mm long and 5 mm wide. Black oblong seeds arranged longitudinally in the pod. Foliage used as fish poison particularly in kurrung. and the gum eaten. Found in lowland and sandstone country.
