Green tree ants are called bodbang in some dialects and kabo in others. Bod means 'fly' and bang means 'dangerous/aggressive'— a reference to the biting behaviour of these ants. In Kundjeyhmi the alate queen form of the green ant is called walirdon. In nawalidjaw clan lect (a duwa moiety variety spoken by Kurulk and Kulmarru clan people) green ants are called naworrkorl. Some Kune dialect speakers use this word naworrkorl to refer to the medicine made from crushing a green ant nest and mixing it with water. The ant larvae are called marre.
