- Scientific Name

The name for the dingo is dalkken which literally means 'grass dweller' (kun-dalk 'grass', ken 'of'). In Kundjeyhmi and Kundedjnjenghmi the synonym nagarndegen is also used.
Yika Bininj kabirri-yime dalkken kaben-baye kunj, yika larrk. Birri-ngudjbang kunj na-warddeken, minj bale ka-yime bu dalkken kaben-ngudjkadjung ku-wardde, kayakki, kabirri-ngudjbawon kunj.
Some people say that dingoes can sometimes kill rock kangaroos too and sometimes they can't. The rock-wallabies are too fast, making it difficult for the dingoes to get them amongst the rocks as the wallabies are too fast for them.
