The fleshy red globular fruits are eaten, mostly from bangkerreng – wurrkeng. Medium sized tree usually to 10 metres high with smooth, mottled, pale grey bark. Leaves alternate, stiff, ovate to oval, blade usually 50-100 mm long x 20-60 mm wide, dark green above, paler underneath, three prominent longitudinal veins. Flowers small, white, 2-3 mm diameter, in small clusters. Fruit smooth, fleshy, globular, to 10 mm diameter, red when ripe. Found in lowland and sandstone country in monsoon forest associated with freshwater streams, drier vine thickets on sandstone and rock outcrops in open woodland.
